A Word on File Types

.mid (or MIDI) files will play the music using many different player which will probably start up automaticly once you download the .mid file and double click on it.

.not files play in the Notation Player (linked for download below and center under "Tools") and will display the music, following the score with a marker. It also prints the score well.

.mp3 are music files which will play on your computer which willprobably start up automaticly once you download the .mp3 file and double click on it without the need of downloading another program. .mp3 will also play on many CD players once burned to a CD.

.pdf or (PDF) files are for printing the score if you are not using the Notation Player with a .not file.

How to Download a file

1. navigate to the link to the file you want,
2. then click the right-side mouse button on the link
3. and then click on "Save File As."

If you open the file in a new browser window, you can go to the
[File] menu (upper right corner of your browser window) and then click on "Save As."

Sibelious Scorch is a program that will let you play .sib and .sco files in your browser window. download and double click to install

This vanBasco's Karaoke Player (click to download) is used to play .mid files (midi). It provides adjustments of tempo and pitch but no score or lyrics. The file name is vkaraoke.exe Click here for installation instruction. For more information Go to The author's home page.

Note: vanBasco's Karaoke Player allows you to isolate parts. Click on the "output" icon at the botom of the maine window to open the "output" window (if not open already). 2 vertical rows of rectangular buttons are on the left side of the output window. The first column silences that instrument (or part). Silence all parts but your own. Or, using the second column of buttons, with none of the parts silenced, clivck on you part (instrument playing your part) and you will get your part as predominent with others in the background.

Click the "control" icon at the bottom of the main screen to open the control window (if not open already). From ther you can control pitch (key), tempo, and volumn.

vanBasco's Karaoke Player will not show you the lyrics or score.

Notation Player Will play files ending in .not. When opened the music score and lyrics can be viewed and printed. Using the VCR -like controls you can play the music and a vertical blue line keeps track of your place in the score. (To download from this site click here)

Adobe PDF Viewer allows you to view .PDF files. Some music scores will be provided in this kind of file. You probably already have it on your computer. Just double click a .PDF file and see if it opens. If not or if a sign says it's out of date, then you download it here.
